I recently returned from a lengthy training tour that took me from Northern California into the Seattle market and on into Oklahoma. During my travels, I had a lot of time to contemplate and was reminded of many things. Sharing them with you is part of my commitment to helping you to be the best you are capable of, both personally and professionally. Here are some of the thoughts I felt were worth sharing with you: ♦ Looking in the mirror is one of the toughest endeavors any of us can embark upon. Some people are just not ready and will look everywhere else to avoid their own reflection. ♦ You can do everything right and produce less than stellar results. If you do your very best each day you can hold your head high and sleep well. ♦ Being in flow and allowing things to unfold tends to produce more favorable outcomes. ♦ People are so much a part of your success. You must invest in them! ♦ You cannot hold your people accountable if you have not created and communicated clear organizational standards and taught your people what it means to be a professional. If you have communicated these things, and do have a healthy organizational culture, and still find that some people may not be a good fit then they must be placed in positions that will cause the least harm. Perhaps you may need to free them up for greater opportunities. ♦ Plan ahead and anticipate. (Proper Planning Produces Peak Performance) ♦ A true friend shines bright in times of despair. ♦ Little things make big differences. ♦ Sleep is really important. ♦ You must love what you do. When work is play you will never work another day in your life. ♦ Some people do not want to be happy. You are not going to impact all. Focus on the ones who do. Remember, what you focus on expands! ♦ Some people do not believe they can improve. This may be due to a lack of self worth. Do not give up on them. You have a responsibility to push these people to be greater. ♦ Celebrate the small successes. ♦ There are a lot of wonderful people in the world. ♦ Each day remember to stay grounded, be clear on your intention, and make sure your interactions are win /win – (Grounded, Directed & Clean) ♦ Living and acting in love is not always pretty. ♦ Management must buy-in and show support for development. It all starts from the top. ♦ There is no such thing as Jamaican time, Mexican time or Indian time. There is "on time" or "late." ♦ Master the basics. ♦ It's never about the money. Take care of everything else and the money will flow. ♦ Technology is great but if people are not comfortable with it, they will not use it. ♦ Stand up, take responsibility and act. ♦ Choose unity over division. ♦ Everyone gets pretty much the same message. The one's who apply it best will dominate their market. There are lessons in everything we do. All we need to be is open to improvement. Much of this involves letting go of our ego.
